CHILDHOOD HOME
Located in a lush neighborhood of charming homes and fine gardens just a stone’s throw from Berlin’s Free University, Gisbert Poeppler has helped create a delightful home for a young family.
The ground floor was opened up to accommodate contemporary family life by connecting the kitchen and dining room with large French doors. A cozy inglenook graces the kitchen for smaller meals or intimate moments. In the adjoining dining room, there is a great custom-built table perfect for birthday parties, big dinners, or helping the kids with homework. Connected is a family room with built-in shelving to frame the fireplace. An elegant color scheme of strong reds and gentle blues creates a harmonious balance throughout these rooms.
Upstairs, a rich palette of colors pleasantly fills the space with a Renaissance mood. Each sibling has a personal color combination for their rooms.
The parents' bathroom has deep colors and gem-like tiles providing a soothing background opening onto their calm bedroom. Here, the materials and furniture provide the colors along with texture.
