PLAID DADI IV
The finest, hand-carded and -spun cashmere wool from the Altai Himalayas is used to weave the Gisbert Pöppler blankets.
A spinner works for about two months just to produce the yarn for the PLAID DADI IV (130 x 210 cm). Dyed with natural colors, the textile is woven on a loom, specially built with 2600 warp threads. For multiple days, this part of the process takes place in a small Nepalese manufactory in Katmandu. Row by row, centimeter by centimeter, the blanket grows – in double face. This means that the front and back sides are woven simultaneously, so that the coverlet appears pleasantly heavy and valuable. Many different looks can be created with the sophisticated color allocation of both front and back.
