TEL AVIV 400 DINING TABLE
The segments and how they are composed to form this outdoor table were inspired by the short intense shadows of the bright midday sun in Tel Aviv. The ten elements that make up the table top are hewn out of lava stone from the Sicilian volcano Etna.
They appear thick but have been meticulously hollowed out specifically in order to insert a concealed stainless-steel frame that joins them together. Using an ancient technique developed in this region called Majolica, the pieces have been glazed in a kiln at 950 degrees that protects them with a robust surface suitable for outdoor use and provides the translucent colors with a slight craquelé for the finish.
The tabletop has a vibrant appearance due to this surface treatment, which is countered by the dark polished lava stone of the trigonal legs celebrating the powerful Mediterranean play of light.
